The main aim of the Accademia Organistica Udinese Association is to promote awareness of instrumental and vocal music, with particular emphasis on early organ music performed on the historic organs of Friuli Venezia Giulia.
Among other things, the Association aims to:
- promote artistic activities of all kinds through regional, inter-regional, national and international cultural exchanges;
- to raise awareness of the art of organ-building and organ playing, a significant part of our region’s cultural heritage representing its musical traditions and customs, through concerts and high-calibre organ courses and seminars;
- to plan, organise and manage musical events, concerts, study workshops, festivals, seminars, conferences, competitions, recordings, album releases, exhibitions and music courses;
- to introduce even the youngest members of the public to this ‘marvellous instrument’ through concert-lessons aimed at secondary school pupils;
- to coordinate the association’s activities with public and private bodies.
The Association has produced 12 CDs, 9 of which feature historic organs from our region (Udine – Church of S. Giorgio Maggiore, Muzzana – Parish Church, Marano Lagunare – Parish Church of St Martin, Tricesimo, Fagagna – Parish Church, Ciconicco – Parish Church, Tarcento – Sanctuary of the Blessed Virgin of the Lily, Udine – Church of St George the Greater, Pordenone – Cathedral) and 3 featuring the two organs of the Parish Church of St Quirino in Udine).
